3 Ways to Be More Mindful at Work

In this month's February/March 2015 issue of Prevention Magazine Australia, I shared 3 tips on how you can be more mindful at work!

1. Get in touch with your breathing:

To do this, simply pause and practise reciting an internal mantra that works with your breathing, like “Breathing in, I calm body and mind.
Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.” (Thich Nhat Hanh)

2. Observe the small things:

Next time you’re eating lunch ‘al desko’, look at your food and name each ingredient in your mind. For instance, “I have a salad. This is lettuce and tomato and chicken.” The short pause this provides focuses your attention on the present moment.

3. Aim to listen wholeheartedly:

During interactions with your colleagues, try and stay present. Practice listening fully, and holding back all judgement.
Just put a pause on it. Simple!
